Credit Suisse

What do we do?

Credit Suisse is a global investment bank, which means we advise our clients on the best ways to restructure and adapt their businesses and make the most of their capital. We carry out trade and sales agreements, manage investments and develop solutions to complex financial problems on behalf of institutions, corporations, governments and wealthy individuals all over the world.

Which careers do we offer?

Five areas of our business recruit graduates: Corporate & Investment Banking; Fixed Income; Equities; Finance, Administration & Operations; and Information Technology. Each area offers different opportunities and roles depending on your qualifications, personality and interests. We also offer summer and winter internships for those looking for work experience in the world of banking prior to committing full time. Whether or not you’re familiar with what these opportunities might be, you’ll find in-depth explanations and introductions to everything we have to offer on our website www.csfb.com/standout.

What’s the training like?

It’s in our best interest to get you off to the right start, and we consider our training to be truly exceptional in every area. If you join as full-time, you can expect a two-to three-month in-depth graduate development programme upfront, followed by ongoing on-the-job and division-specific development as you grow both professionally and personally. The more focused and motivated you are, and the more you take ownership for your own training, the faster you’ll develop. In IT, the best training is hands-on, so after an initial three-week induction you’ll get straight into your first role, with further technical training and coursework to build up your knowledge. Even as an intern, you’ll benefit from real on-the-job experience, exposure to senior management and in-depth training in financial markets.

What do we look for in you?

There’s no such thing as a typical Credit Suisse person. Our people come from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures; they have degrees in different subjects and aspirations to take their careers in different directions. But there are certain common qualities. You will have achieved excellent results in your secondary education and will be expecting at least a 2.1 degree or equivalent qualification. Fluency in English is also a prerequisite. We tend to look for people who are open-minded about work, life and their future in general; who get a buzz out of approaching problems that bit differently; and who know there’s always something greater to be achieved. They’re people who stand out in all sorts of ways and, as a result, fit into Credit Suisse.
